His issue is that he has really strict parents that treat him like he's 5. Its not something I would make fun of him or anyone for. I had a roomate in college who had parents like that too.

My mom is like that, shes not strict, in fact shes never said no XD but if I go somewhere without letting her know she'll think im dead lol.....
