unfading affection M-201 & lighting blade J-US066

does unfading affection stop lighting blade J-US066 (gold foil from the chosen)

First off, I should probably mention that Lightning Blade J-us066 has the following errata:

(J-US066): Lightning Blade (added 5-19-08)

Effect errata: "Effect: If your opponent has 5 or more Battle rewards, discard the target. If your opponent has 4 or less Battle rewards, give 1 Damage to the target. In either case, the user gets +X/+X during this turn. X = the number of your opponent's Battle Rewards."

The important part here is the "In either case". This makes it a conditional statement where the first part "discard the target" or "give 1 Damage to the target" must be done or else the +X/+X boost will not be applied.

Thus, if you have Unfading Affection M-201 in play and your opponent has 5 or more Battle rewards, then Lightning Blade J-us066 will not be able to discard your ninja due to Unfading Affection's effect. Since Lightning Blade can't discard your ninja, Lightning Blade's user will not get the +X/+X.
