on page 28 of the new Rule Book it says:

2) Animals and non-human Ninjas hold no rank.
Also, these Ninja have no gender either.

yet Kiba Inuzuka N-427 has "Leaf | Genin | Male | Animal | Growth"

So is the animal in his characteristics a mistake or should we simply strike that part from the rulebook?

not a mistake.

will not be striked.

the rule is for Ninjas that are obviously non-human (obviously Kiba is a human, albeit with some animal characteristics, well, hopefully that's obvious).

there are card effects that state "male Ninja", "female Ninja", and all assorted ranks. Animals cannot use these, unless the Characteristic line states the Characteristic that is required.
