Chapter 7

Neji sat at the edge of the walkway and found himself staring down into the little decorative pond he saw the last time he was here. It was getting pretty late, though the sun hadn't set. Back already... It was a strange feeling. He recalled the last time he had sat in this exact spot and blushed.

He watched as a bird landed nearby and hopped closer to the pond, unsure if it wanted to drink out it or not.

"NEJI-KUN!" Neji nearly fell over. Sorano giggled playfully.

"H-hey." You haven't changed Sorano, he thought. He smiled back. "Which is good."

She tilted her head, confused. She was cute when she did that, though Neji couldn't explain it. "What's good?"

"Nothing, just thinking aloud." Which was true.

She gave him a sly smile. "What were you thinking about?" She pushed even ****her. "Me?"

He pondered how he should respond. But she already knew she was right. "Ha, I was right!" She said.

"Heh, you can read me better than my Byakugan." And strangely it was true. Very true. Likewise, he couldn't predict her.

"Course." She replied, sitting next to him. But she immediately sat up again. "Hey, hey, you wanna see something cool?"

Neji wasn't sure what it was, more than anything he wanted to see what it was, but before he could even tell her, she had already grabbed his hand and pulled him out into the open.

"Let's go onto the roof!" She jumped ahead and called from the roof. "The sunset is beautiful!"

Neji followed and soon they were both gazing as the sun slowly hid itself behind the mountains in the distance.

"Isn't it bad to look at the sun?" Neji said and Sorano laughed.

"Yeah, I guess we shouldn't watch for too long then." She leaned back. "Why don't we look at the sky!"

Neji followed and gazed at the mix of oranges in the sky. The sight was calming and Neji could have fallen asleep, had he not heard the voices from down below.

"What a day!" It was definitely Naruto's voice.

Neji and Sorano peered over the edge of the roof. Naruto and the rest of Neji's team had arrived. Neji already knew they were going to be staying here too, so he eased back again.

But again Sorano surprised him and jumped over. "Heeeeey everyone!"

Leaning forward again, Neji watched as Sorano joined the others. Should I follow? He only pondered a moment Of course I should follow! He jumped off the roof to join the rest.

"Oh, its Neji." Yoriko grinnned, Neji knew there was more. "With Sorano-sama the whole time, yeah?

Neji blushed slightly, but he tried to fight it. "Yeah, is there something wrong with that?"

She turned away, obviously mocking him. "Oh, nothing."

He knew it was joke so he didn't bother getting worked up about it. "Alright."

"Neji-kun is so cool, yeah?" Sorano smiled. Neji was happy he had at one person on his side. The one that counted the most.

"Yeah!" This time it was Lee. What could he possibly say? "Neji-san was so cool that I never thought he would get a girlfriend!"

"WHAT!?" Yoriko looked very surprised. "You guys are going out!?"

Neji and Sorano looked at each other. Both were blushing; their cheeks were crimson red.

"Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~" Sorano screamed and she jumped away.

There was a long pause and Neji didn't do anything, not know what to do anyway.

Tenten looked at Lee with glaring eyes. "Where. Did. You. Find. That. Out?"

"Huh? I just assumed th-"

Tenten jumped on his back, shoving her foot straight down while pulling his arms back. "ASSUME?!? ASSUME I'M GONNA KILL YOU!"

"FORGIVE MEEEEEEEEEEEEE~"
