the Launch weekend is over...
at least for the most part. it seems that a few stores will be doing it next week as well due to miscues in product shipping.
now for the fun part. hopefully it wasn't a one-shot thing. hopefully the stores will begin running weekly tournaments, so the game can work up to the summer conventions like Gencon Indy and Anime Expo, and possibly Comicon in San Diego. keep at all of the stores to keep the game going, despite shortages in product or any excuses anyone may have. good luck to all, and we'll see you down the line. and NorCal better watch out, since SoCal players are going to take you up on your challenge ... |

... Well, one place up here had 4 players, the other had 2. Oddly enough, both locations went through something like 2 boxes of starters each, so I figure my players are, umm... practicing molding their chakra?
One of my Gundam players tried out the game, though, and he kicked butt, so... look out! I've had SO many problems with people going "I'd play in your tournament, but I don't know how to play" I always reply "I can teach you" And they go, "that's okay, I don't know how to play" then they buy a starter and leave ![]() |

i noticed at one of the locations i was at, that the male players were incredibly enthusiastic, and a couple little girls just asked their dad if they could leave.
at all of the locations, we were on site at least 2 hours beforehand running demoes for the new players. they were able to play through a game once, but of course, that really wasn't enough. they did get an idea, and most left liking the game. my Friday location sold through everything they got but a display of starters. my Saturday location sold through everything they got, but held back some for a possible Sunday event (which i need to check on how it went) my Sunday location was a mix. the owner had a couple booster boxes left. mainly the players were from YGO and VS trying out the game, and were either saving their $$$ for the YGO Sneak in two weeks, or were spent out from the VS Sneak on Saturday. i will be visiting two other locations today on a trip around the city due to my business, and will be interested on how the other stores did and who the Meijin are running things there. already most SoCal locations have already starting setting up events for May. with MtG store releases next weekend, YGO Sneaks in two weeks, a Game of Thrones Regional next weekend, and Pokemon releases, the next two weeks are pretty booked up. May 20/21 should really see the beginning of OP in SoCal at the store level. also, by that time, decks should be forming and strategies layed out. should be fun... |

Hello Mr Wheat! LOL
Sunday was a wash on the event...but we did demo to four new people who LOVED it and will be back! Thus far, it looks like we had the largest release event...Mr. Fantazy said a couple stores still hadn't reported numbers. We announced our events for the month, and now have singles out. Like everyone else in the country, we are still trying to get more product. but can support what we have scheduled. We (the gaming community) need to figure out how to get word out about this game to the fans of the show...I had alot of "gamers" at the event (who were more interested in the mechanics than the license), but hardly any fans of the show. The game rocks, and I think fans of the license need to know how good it is. I know alot of Anime-maniacs who are so often disappointed by the ccgs/tcgs attached to thier favorite themes. I dont think that would be the case with this game. We have so much confidence in the game, we are doing tourneys all month in May on Saturdays despite the other releases...we are just doing them later in the evening!
