I agree that it was bad. My main complaint about the game is that there is too much power too early. There's too much draw as well.

I miss 40 card format where we weren't forced to run all draw/search/game ending missions.

Agreed. That was the beginning of the end. They made the decks too big to be consistent, so they overload them with draw and search to fix that. The problem with that it that drawing also allows for faster chakra building. That makes it easier to play more jutsus and other effects that use chakra.

Add mission negation with massive draw, bad combination. Draw gets you more draw, so if you stop one draw mission you pretty much stop all of them. If you can negate the only mission in your opponent's hand you have shut down their entire deck. We fix this by adding more draw effects; Ink Fish, Ino Childhood, Hotaru, Tenten, etc. This makes it easier to refill your hand after you go -2 when you use a negation. It keeps snowballing into more and more problems that all stem from the same thing, the deck size is too big.

It's too bad the we can't go back to the 40 card decks, but it wouldn't work with the cards the've given us.

Lol this. I do enjoy the diversity we have now, but the first few turns are too crucial now.

You had to read the opponent and predict when a Dreams would be dropping. Mirror matches were common, meaning it really came down to outplaying the opponent intellectually. It was, and probably always will be, one of my favorite formats. But what do I know? I suck at this game.
Dreams format reminded me of Yu-Gi-Oh!'s Meta. Its either play this or you lose.

Yeah, the game's so fast now, I thought when it was a you win turn 4 format it was a problem, now it seems like if you can't hit your first two drops you might as well scoop.

That would be Vanguard's meta now, at Least Yugioh there are still at least 3-4 decks in tier 1 every format [with the exception of TeleDad Format], but in vanguard it seems like you have to play the best deck or you lose no matter what, problems of when a game bases its game off the anime, rather than making the game's core stable, its where every game can learn from MTG.

Idk, I play Vanguard as well and I play Great Nature & Nova Grapplers and have topped every tournament I have played at. I don't like going with play this because its the best deck. I like to challenge myself to beat it. Gold Paladin is really solid now, but can only guard so much against constant stands thanks to the Death Army twins lol. But around the time of the Dreams format I had quit Yu-Gi-Oh! to pick up Naruto and I regretted that almost instantly because I was try to stray away from that. But now Naruto kinda reminds me of Vanguard because if you miss your Rides (Drops) you have a much lesser chance at winning.

Gold Paladin is the most consistent deck, in a swiss where you go to regionals. Your going to face 60% of the decks are GP. You will end up losing due to bad hands or no triggers.

I will also agree that the game has so much search and draw. Your missions are all dedicated to card advantage and hand mitigation, along with search. Missions are blatantly easy to predict, Water seems to be the only element that uses utility missions.

Next set, CoI will be i pay with a naruto to get 2 BRs. Rarely will i pay with the sasuke unless i can game him with the extra 2-4 BR from hidan.

1) TeleDad format had 2 tier 1 decks, not 1. Although most people remember it as being a really strong deck, it was not the "play this one deck or lose " format.

2) Vanguard doesn't matter in this discussion. It isn't a competitive card game.

I don't remember any sjc where Teledad didn't second or take it, It was BDIF and if you didn't play it you put yourself at an extreme disadvantage because the best thing against teledad was teledad at the time [Just like Dreams Format.]
