I knew you meant 1-13, but it really should've went back to sets 1-3 when there wasn't anything over retarded. Set 4 introduced crazy shenanigans, Set 6 did it again in a different way, then you run into Gaara TN and Reunion a few sets later. Sets 1-3, BLISS!!!

Remember when ninjas with broken (for the time) effects actually had crappy stats? It's almost like they were trying to balance the game or something.

Dang, nostalgia. Took a spin in the Wayback Machine and dug up some old stuff.

Genin event tournament report! (back from when PlayTCG was called Narucards - in 2006)

Hard to imagine that this game's been around for 7 years (with approximately 6 of it involving tons of doomsaying). For as much crap as I give Bandai, that's still an impressive accomplishment in a highly competitive industry - even though I still think the game has tons of room for improvement.

Sets 1-13 encompassed the two worst Gencons of all time - Freedori meta and O9K meta, which were more off-sided than the Dreams meta in terms of playable decks. If you look at the top 16 layout, you'll see why.

Yes, I know Josh Lu is going to regurgitate "well it t00k sk1ll t0 pil0t a netd3ck h8r h8r h8r theworldshikamaruonlyn03s"

tl;dr, saul, i'm going to "yell" at you when i see you sunday for posting this

At least you know you're bad. Problem is, you don't know why you're bad.

O9K meta was won by Dogs against Fire in the final, just a fyi.

I know Jerry's deck won. the meta was 90%+ O9K. The meta for Freedori was 90%+ Freedori. Brainless archetypes; jerry's deck took thought...

The game back then was worse than it is now (meta-wise / rules-wise)... I don't get why you people keep trying to justify its "goodness".

Popular deck =/= brainless. Brainless is less decision making - aka being able to draw your whole deck and play 3-4 elements with no problems whatsoever every game.

And because the game was more balanced.
