Honestly the first hokage's personality is stupid.
When he fought sarutobi, the 3rd said that they were "more like they used to be" after they got more serious, so him being childish does not make sense, since it contradicts the previous statement. Either the 3rd never knew them well, or kishimoto just got bored and threw it in. Most likely the latter.

Actually, the 3rd said they looked more like themselves after Oro put the tailismans in them to solidify their bodies more. Not that their personalities were more like the past.
The 1st's personality actually does make a lot of sense to me. All super powerful, nonvillians in mangas usually have a goofy personality, or at least a goofy side. Plus, I find this to be true in real life too. I know a decent amount of people who are very athletic, and very strong who are complete goofballs.

Now that I've stopped the bleeding...
The newest Naruto chapter... just mentally and physically assaulted me with a torrent of pure stupidity. It was worse then the Pein Magic Revive Everyone Chapter... It was worse then every chapter involving Sakura's uselessness... It was worse then the Rasenshuriken not working against a target that is weak to it for BS reasons chapter... IT WAS WORSE THEN THE MIND CONTROL LASER IN THE MOON CHAPTER... This was easily the worst chapter... in Naruto history... BY A DECENT MARGIN... I'm Cave Johnson... we're done here.

I loved this chapter. It may have been useless but it wasn't terrible. Mostly it seems like it was put in for comedic relief. Some major stuff has been happening lately.
Kakashis childhood friend has been tormenting them for years The most powerful ninja in history has come back in a new unkillable form. The end of the ninja world has literally reared its ugly head. Neji died. It was revealed kakashi put his hand through his other friends chest. The Kages have been revived thus instilling orochimaru the title of greatest villain of the series NEJI DIED Even Shakespeare needed the porter scene guys. This is a way of bestowing information while not making us miserable for reading it.
