Quick question. Can u pay x cards off the top of the deck with sasuke(exhaustion)for costs of jutsus to play a 3 cost jutsu with 2 revitalize cards as the only cards in deck?

I more or less need a link of proof. Thanks to whom answers.

No you cannot. It says you can pay with the top of your deck instead. This means you have to have the correct amount of cards from the top of your deck before you pay them. Regardless of them coming back from Revitalize, that part is irrelevant, the cards were not there when you attempted to pay the cost, they come back too late.

I disagree. Revitalize is a replacement effect. This means those cards immediately bottom deck when they would be discarded. So the minute I discard that first one, it should be there to serve as the third one as well.

An argument could be made either way really, it depends on is costs are payed one by one with the effect or if it's all at once (in which case you couldnt because then it would see you only have 2 cards before any of them are discarded)

Costs are paid all at once, not one by one. You can't pay the cost of a (3) Jutsu if you have 2 cards left in deck just like you can't pay the cost of a (3) Jutsu if you have 2 Chakra.

Isn't Revitalize technically a triggered effect? So Revitalize will only happen after the instance of paying for the jutsu is completed, AND it will use the chain similar to how Giant Eagle works. Am I correct about this?

EDIT: O wait. I didn't catch the "instead" in the official definition. So it should occur as paying the cost happens. Nvm.

It is a replacement effect. Replacement effects do not use the chain.

That's what I thought. IM not the only person who likes proof of everything though. I couldn't find it q+a or in advanced rulings though.

When you choose to substitute the cost of the Jutsu with Sasuke's effect, you are paying the cost with cards in your Deck instead. You Have to pay the full cost from your Deck, and if you don't have enough cards to discard right then and there, you are not fulfilling the cost of the Jutsu. The game doesn't recognize Revitalize cards in the Deck like that. If a Jutsu costs 4 and you have 2 cards in Deck, you cannot play that Jutsu with his alternate cost effect, because you don't have that cost to pay it.
