Costs shouldn't be effects.
This is starting to bother me now. Third Hokage and Human Path both have costs that hurt your opponent. The Third hits chakra and puts -1/-1 coins on guys for a cost and Human takes cards out of the hand as a cost. That makes them unstoppable since you pay cost before you can respond. Both of these cards should be errata'd to have they're cost be pay 0. No cost for anything should be a neg to your opponent. Anyone agree?

Short answer: Yes and no.
Long answer: The effects are fine for the power level each was meant to display. Third is meant to push for game and path is only really nuts if you negate him on chain. However the "yes" part is I don't want them to think costs that hit the opponent are good things. Basically no need for errata, but they shouldn't make any more. |

9/10 times you won't be able to chain to The 3rd Hokage's effect anyway. Leave them as is. This was happening months ago.

There are perfectly legitimate sideboard cards for problem ninjas like these, that you can search/hit just as easy as they can.

you can side board for 3rd, since he has to hit every single ninja for his effect to resolve properly.
But the way i see it, Human path has NO negative side other than the fact he needs a sacrifice. It doesn't matter if its your turn or opponent's turn, as long as human path can activate on that even turn marker. He has two times the chance to rip a potential 4 cards from your hand at almost no cost. Ripping two cards as a cost is dumb. |

I totally agree about Human Path. It basically has its impact on the opponent in the cost itself, not the effect. It makes no sense.
Another one I can think of is Karin, who can mess up a lot of combos that use the discard pile by moving a card from your discard pile to your chakra as a cost, before going on the chain. |

Not anywhere near the same as Human Path literally removing 2 (possibly key) cards straight from the hand, potentially permanently. |

I don't think the individual card effects matter, I think the point here is, and I agree with is that cost should not harm your opponent EVER. they should either be free, hurt you (would warrant a greater effect) , or help your opponent ( would warrant a greater effect).
Only effects should hurt your opponent period. |

eoj: pay 0. I don't like it when you have a virtually unchainable effect. But that's a different issue. Quote:
