idfk its either what you said, because kishi forgot what he did earlier, or perhaps it has something to do with the rinnegan. perhaps it being inside them imbeds them with enough 6 sagey (technical term) life force that it allows them to be jinchuuriki even in death.

perhaps even, though not likely, because the bodies were already hosts at some point so the beasts were able to adept to being in bodies that were technically dead. maybe it has to do with them actually having captured the tailed beasts somehow since the beasts had those pain rods inside them so sharingan + body control of rinnegan = allowed them to...

probably is what you said. he's too strong. not sure why being alive effects how strong a tailed beast you can be the jinchuuriki of but thats the most simplistic answer and probably the one we'll get assuming we get one. we probably wont though.

Like I said previously. It probably has something to do with the tailed beasts used being "DEAD" inside the statue. During the Minato flashbacks they said they could just defeat and "kill" Kurama, but it would only keep him away for a limited amount of time until his chakra reformed or whatever.

Otherwise Kishi could've easily brought back previous Jinchuuriki for the 8 and 9 tailed beasts and had Edo Tensei'd versions of them, too. 8 and 9 are currently alive and in live hosts. So they can't be tethered.

Well then, allow me to sate your curiosity.

I'm ok with it. I am ok with the characters I like dying. My only complaint is that Neji died to save hinata. I don't like her lol. But, it was decent, since it got tied into his father's death, so meh.

Despite my username, Itachi is my favorite character, or at least used to be. I don't so much like the edo tensei version of itachi.

In light of that, my favorite character is Jiraiya.
