He's right though. I mean you know him and you both right the blog. That's like MJM posting an article on MtF and then Shino'sDad praising it. Of course he'll like it becuase they are co-writers (well and MJM writes great articles)

This deck is better than the last, but still just not feeling it. I mean sure it's got draw and control like no business, but what good is that when your win condition is "battle and hope to win"
You have Deidara cool, and you have decent jutsu line-up as far as MTJ and Flame. However, I just don't feel the consistency the deck claims. Then again, it's interesting enough for a playtest at least
Overall, i'd say 6/10

We all have a right to our opinion
Although I'd love to play you and show you firsthand how it runs.
Other than that, I shall refrain from comment, because feedback is feedback.

You'd be surprised how well this kind of deck can do.

This deck seems like a lesser version of a deck I'm currently piloting (still trying to tweak out it's potential) actually it feels exactly like the very first version of the deck. I think you will soon realize the weaknesses within the build and what the replacements for certain cards are.

I'll rate it 7/10 because the deck is definitely on the right track.

You're correct about the deck not creating a unique, meta-altering way to win, but it does seem like a solid build that pretty much goes along the basic lines of a balanced deck: strong early teams to gain momentum with great draw and tutor mid and late game, while using jutsus to check or whittle down the opponent even further. I'd give it a 7.5/10.

One thing I think OC should have mentioned was that 1st Hokage is essentially the source of mission and jutsu recursion in the deck. Even though he claims most games end by T6, it's still worthwhile to mention the deck can set up an incredible draw engine between 2 Betrayals and 2 First Hokages in the deck to pick up and reuse Mind Transfers and Dragon Flames if they've been used up before 1st can mastery them.

I also like the fact that the deck runs significantly more earth than fire. I think more people need to realize that running a 70/30 to 60/40 build is much more reliable than a near 50/50 ratio. It ultimately has to do with a greater probability of being able to pay for hand costs in a majority of the deck on a draw, in addition to not hurting the underrepresented element nearly as much as it helps the element in majority because the player is aware he should keep a fire card in hand to pay for that Warhawk. I would explain it in more detail but I feel like the explanation would be too mathematical for many and would pass over their heads.

A little feedback: try not to talk about "typical games", especially when it comes to specific combinations of starting cards. In your first 6 cards, the odds of drawing 1 of a particular 3-of in your deck is close to 32%. That's only 3 times in 9-10 games you'll average out to having a Tsukado in your starting hand. If you also want a Shiho (only at 2), you only have a 22% chance of starting with her. To talk about beginning a "typical" game with both Shiho and Tsukado or even Shiho and Student and Sensei is artificial at best because you have only around a 7% chance of pulling that particular sequence of cards off (yeah, you can get a rough estimate of the probability by multiplying the 32% and the 22% together, but you really want to use a hypergeometric distribution - why I daren't attempt to explain probability to other players who aren't interested in math). What's more important is to examine how any two of your T0 and T1 ninjas can work together to make a decent team. Remember the odds of starting with Shiho and Tsukado in hand are exactly the same as starting with Shiho and Ino (7%).

I hate to bring this up now because it's so off-topic, but I will since I'm on the topic of probability (as you might tell, it's a subject I find fairly important). It's all about JI.

To begin, know that getting a JI in your first 6 cards is near 32%. Getting a Takamaru in your first 6 cards is also 32%. Getting Sakura in your first 6 cards is 32% as well. If you don't have one, you can always mull. Next, if you have Takamaru or Sakura, you have at least one chance to exchange your hand. If you had JI or a jonin in your old hand, you can put it on top to ensure you get it on your next draw. Let's say you exchanged a hand with a jonin and you're digging for a JI, of which 3 remain in your deck. The probability of finding a JI if you have 40 cards (pretty typical for turn 2) left in your deck and if you're exchanging a hand of 6 is 39%. Of course, you have another 39% chance to draw another Takamaru if you used Sakura or another 39% to draw Sakura if you used Takamaru. If you used Takamaru to exchange you have a 28% chance of getting a second Takamaru. The odds only increase if you use Hanare, Hotaru, and S25 Tenten to slim the deck further and shuffle reject hands in. As you can tell, the odds become very significant of drawing JI+jonin at least by T3. I just wanted to mention this because it seemed like people were neglecting the idea of a dedicated JI deck with 3x Takamaru, 3x Sakura, 3x Tenten, and a sufficient number of jonins because it WILL be viable. Running JI with minimal deck investment makes me cry a little inside when I see the promise behind mass hand exchange.

Sorry, I only wanted to vent.

This is something I could have/should have mentioned, but I was already feeling as though the article was getting a little too long and I was spending a lot of time talking about specific cards.
I'd respond more to you but I have something bothersome on my mind, perhaps we could talk more later or something if you like. Anyway, thanks for the read and commentary.
