Bandai was extremely organized this ENTIRE event. Doing coverage and moving the tournaments along smoothly.
registration ending at 9 was announced there and on this website beforehand. and such they had all the right to close it right at 9PM. this is something as players we cannot get upset about. HOWEVER... As being one of the players for getting a first round loss for arriving registering at 9:03. I felt at the time was a little crazy considering two things. A.There was no audible announcement made for when registration was closing, even though we all knew it closed at 9. The reason I bring this up is because I was there around 8:40 just hanging around. It was my fault for relying on hearing a "last call" annoucement I just happen to realize it was 9:03 and went to register and was late. Again it was my fault for not signing up early and relying on an annoucment...oops. B. In my specific case it was 9:03 and the tournament hasn't started yet (I heard Laughing man say "ok start printing the rounds" as I literally walked up to him) .... not like 9:15 or 9:20 like i saw A LOT of other players do. they huffed and puffed and got super upset, but late is late 3 minutes or 20 minutes. and if they made an exception for me they would have had to make an exception for everyone. but since there was no real announcement and the tournament didn't start I felt they could have been a little flexible with the entries extending it to 9:10 maybe? idk. I was upset, and I calmly voiced my opinions to both Justin and Alex, they understood where I was coming from and I understood where they were coming from. I moved on, AGAIN Bandai was indeed very organized in fact ( no offense) this is the most organized they have been in YEARS. even having the prizing on site this time. (which seems like nbd, but actually IS) |

apologies for voicing the opinion, its my first ever SJC and i've only played at one chunin in Indiana that didn't start till an hour later. like I mentioned, my story was similar zb in terms of arriving there a little past 9. i know it was stressed on the website however, being a new player and never attending their past events nor was never able to attend the sealed or draft tournaments prior to this event, i had no warning ahead of time about the strict time.
i know i know players will be like "next time just be there on time, what's so hard about that?" but as a new player, i was not aware that being a few minutes late would get us an auto-loss. that's just me, i never played any other card games or attended big tournaments so i am not familiar with the late policy. but from now on i am certain on arriving early because it does suck getting that loss so no excuses anymore, just a lesson to learn from. it was difficult to hear them even start the matches and explain the rules, and by looking around at other players reactions with the "what just happened" face gave me the impression that it was unorganized. but like some of you mentioned, and i do agree that Bandai surprisingly had their prizes on hand, it was more organized than other events. alrighty, im done lol |

They even posted about showing up way early and having everything ready before you got there. You really can't blame Bandai for you showing up to THE national event of the year still trying to find cards to finish your side deck. Why are so many people saying they were relying on a final call? That's a bad idea. When a lot of people do that, it causes delays. Last edited by SharinganHeir : 08-21-2012 at 07:14 AM. |
