I like the negation side however because it gives you at least 1 turn of not having to worry about hina because it happens on your turn.

Remember that as negation, the opponent's ninja's effect text will still be active during the turn they drop it since this mission plays on your turn. So even though this new mission is safe from hina for a turn, a card like dehydration still wins for its better timing, even if easily hina'd. However, this card wins out on versatility since it can copy those crazy kages' texts pretty early in the game.

i cnt wait for my opponent to have a kage in their discard pile and i use this mission to copy its effect on my turn 0 ink leech :P

Mastery and Surge are effect texts that were keyworded onto the characteristic line. They're just like tracking, senjutsu, and nonunique, which are keyworded effects that they placed in the text box.

This card and any other card that copies or negates effect text will copy or negate Mastery.
