No you would not.
Could you explain this please? If animal path targets chakra and discard and my panda moves from one legal pile to search from to another, why wouldn't I be able to put it in play?
Since the card changes zones, it is no longer a legal target due to it being considered a different card.

As an example, a Ninja that is targeted by an effect to get +1/+1, then leaves play, then re-enters play doesn't get the effect because its no longer the same Ninja.
I believe your example makes some bigger implications than you realize and it is not similar enough to make this comparison. In your example, the target switches from being a ninja to a ninja card and back to a ninja, which is why it is no longer the same ninja. A ninja can move from the Battlefield to the Village (switch zones) and still be the target of a jutsu because it didn't switch from an in play zone to an out of play zone. How is it any different for Pain (Animal Path)? The target is a ninja card in an out of play zone that may be searched and moves to another out of play zone that may be searched. It never stopped being a ninja card.

Also, has there been any further development on an actual layout for effect activation? I'm still waiting for someone to comment on this.

Thanks

The Village and Battlefield are simply areas inside the In-Play Zone.

When a card moves from any zone to any other zone they are considered a new card.

Here is a list of the Zones:

Deck
Discard Pile
Chakra Area
Removed From Game Area
Hand
In-Play (Village + Battlefield of both Players)
Battle Rewards Area
Chain
Reinforcement Deck

When a card moves from 1 of these to another one of these, it is considered a new card.

Well that makes more sense now. I always thought the village and battlefield were considered separate zones. Thanks for clearing that up. As for my question about the effect layout, I know there was a new effect layout in the works and it was even posted in the meijin forum, but I couldn't find it and it wasn't finished at the time it was posted. Do you know if one has been finished yet?

Thanks!

The new effect layout is the "[Validity/Timing] Cost:" format.

no, I meant like an order of operations for activating an effect. I found the one I mentioned. Alex originally posted it back in August, but he calls it a rough draft. I just wondered if you guys had gone anywhere with it since then.

If that is the case, that means we have to declare which effect we are using on each of the new Council missions before they can actually go onto the chain, correct?
