Chapter 1- To the Sand Village
There are very few paths to the Village Hidden in the Sand (Sunagakure). The few that actually exist lie full of dangers, traps, foreign ninjas and bandits. Most people choose to walk through these paths in groups, safely and protected. But one Nuke-nin has the full confidence needed to walk these dark paths alone on a dark, windy night.
Wazamashi Kitsune walked down the savannah leading to Sunagakure. He didn’t carry much with him, but only carried what was necessary. On his person, he carried a couple kunai and many shuriken. There was also a blessed katana on his back. In his backpack was food, water cans and a special can. Nobody, not even he, knew what was in this can. The secret had died with his father; the old man had told Kitsune “Become strong, and one day the can will help you. When you are strong enough to beat the White Fang of Konoha, then you may open the can. But beware. Should you ever open the can before this time, you will suffer a fate worse then death”. Kitsune stopped looking back on his memories when he noticed some shuffling along the inner plains. Sand dunes were moving in bizarre ways, and Kitsune could have sworn he had heard a faint whispering. All of a sudden, the dunes exploded! Kitsune jumped backwards, but he could still make out the shadows of two men rushing towards him. Instinctively, he pulled out a kunai and three shuriken. He threw the shuriken at the left shadow and charged with his kunai towards the right one. He heard a ‘pop’, and then a laugh. Shortly after, a kick in the ribs sent him flying. He saw a mound of sand collapse where the left shadow had been. Sand Clone? he thought. This was a new jutsu. He had never heard of Suna Bunshin no Jutsu, and he was going to remember it. His life might depend on it. He got to his feet, and saw the smoke clearing. Just as he had thought, his attackers were Sand-Nin Bandits. These were quite common around this area. The one on the left spoke up: “You dare trespass into our territory without paying for safe passage? You must be incredibly brave, or very stupid” he said. Kitsune replied: “I am heading towards Sunagakure. Grant me passage, or you will die.” Neither of the bandits looked in the least affected by Kitsune’s comment, and they just shurgged it off. The one on the right spoke up. “You will pay us 100 000 den, and then we will grant you safe passage. But since you don’t look like you want to pay, you will not pass!”. The duo charged towards Kitsune, who drew out his blessed katana, speaking the last words these Sand-Nin would hear: “The game is on. Prepare to die” Den = Fictional currency used by some of the Hidden Villages. |
