Kalamazoo MI Chunin 1/14/12 Report

I ran water/lightning (I'll link or post a list) because I'm really good at this game. I'd tell you more about it, but let's get down to business (to defeat the huns) on these matches:

Round 1: "Hibachi Sushi" Buffet.

I got a bye and figured it the opportune time to get breakfast, so I got some takeout from the Chinese place. It was delicious, but it made me thirsty all day for some reason.

1-0

Round 2: Michael "HOLLOW" Washington

Game 1 I curved garbage and he wrecked me. Game 2 I curved into my Clear Sky "yay..." But then he Clear Sky'd me "FFFUUUUUUUU--!" and he had better field presence, so I gave up early to do some trades.

1-1

Round 3: James Proctor (frequent local player).

He was running mill. I rushed him early game and he couldn't handle it. Second game went the same, but I had me some anti-mill.

2 - 1

Round 4: Christian Caro (seldom local player).

He came at me with Earth (my second worst match-up) but I persevered Game 1 and 2 by savings my Justus to answer his Mind Transfers.

3 - 1

Top 8 was:

HOLLOW with TotallyOriginal.Dec
The_Sixth_Prong with Ponder/Blightning
Michael Van with gLee
Sunee with Danimals
Kai "Kaigoku"
Jeff "Random101"
John C. with Void Lock Ramp
Tyler "allanime01" with -1/-1

Top 8: John C. (video linked later)

He plays Void dudes. I play Lightning dudes. He comes at me with Void Kisame and Burns my 2 EotS, but I manage to late-game aggro on his dwindling field before he finds any of the lock.

Game 2 he draws, mull, draws 5, mull, draws 4 and passes turn. Other than missing my Turn 1, I come at him hard with my hand of 6. GG guy whose last name escapes me.

Top 4: Michael Van rocking the most innovative deck in Top 4 by a long shot (video linked later)

I don't want to go into this one because I don't remember, but I remember the 4th Hokage, triple Severe Leaf Hurricane, and triple Toad Mouth Trap was involved, but I made it out alive to face tha animal.

Finals: Michael "tha Animal".

He had me milled out by BRs Game 2 in 6 minutes and then, in excitement, he Dempsey Roll'd me. Then, out of mercy, he gave me half of one of his boxes, and there was a 4th. He was kinda mad tho.

For the size of the Chunin (13 players), the competition was pretty fierce. I expect to see half the decks I saw top today top the Massachusetts Jump.

The End.

GG's as well my good sir.

I wish the gLee deck had more testing. <----I enjoy that nickname btw....lol

It was a good day to play a fun deck.

As always its awesome when we are all able to get together and play.

Here is a quick run down for the gLee deck

Didnt plan on playing gLee so I had everything ready for a different deck.
Got to the event chatted with Kai for a few then decided to swap to gLee and have fun for the day...I ran my sideboard from another deck so I had a couple Hina and a Ino playful

Round 1:
Sunee -- Playing Animals
Two good games. Manda locked me out game 1 hit sideboard game 2 but I didnt have the 3 counters I needed for the jutsu exchange.

Round 2:
Nick --Lighting/
This guy goes to my locals and it was his first chunin. We had good games but I 2-0 him.

Round 3:
John -- Water/Chakra control
Its the first time John and I have gotten to play.
Game 1 he misses some drops but then I hit t6 early and then he scoops.
Game 2 he curves but I have bigger #s I make him take some bad blocks and widdle his field down.

Round 4:
James -- Mill
Game 1 he mills like crazy he even kills my combos but I hit drops and he cant mill fast enough.
Game 2 he misses a couple drops I hit curve and his mill engine doesnt get running

Top 8
Round 1
Jeff -- He's playing a lighting build
Game 1 he has to mull down I curve and he misses drops
Game 2 I mull miss drops he wins
Game 3 he mulls I hit curve and the 4th wasnt enough to save him.

Round 2
Tony -- Lighting/Water
Hmmm....I believe he recorded this match so I won't explain it....I believe the end result was he won

Not sure when I'll be able to post the video, but I'm pretty sure I out-jutsu'd you in an exchange Game 1 because you didn't have the chakra for your third Toad Mouth Trap and Game 2 you forced me into blocking Triple Severe Leaf Hurricane and I played catch-up until about Turn 7 where I took it back with Kidomaru (State 2).
