Effect clarification for Gaint panda

Does Giant panda stop a ninja from any damage or injure by giving 1 damage to it instead.

Example 1
If a team with a void head ninja is getting OV'd would giant panda's effect remove the 2 damage by giving itself 1.

Example 2
during the exchange of jutsu a ninja has used feral rage targeting a void ninja to give it to damage. Would giant panda's effect remove the damage by giving it self one or would the void ninja still receive 1 damage.

Example 2: The Giant Panda would receive 1 damage and the targeted Ninja would receive none.
