M667 Fierce Rivals vs. -1/-1 Coins

If I were to play Fierce Rivals while some of my ninjas had -1/-1 coins on them, would they still stay as 0/0 due to Fierce Rivals effect during the turn?

If my opponent were to play Madara's Eye J809 during the EOJ, the targeted Ninja would still be a 0/0 correct? Since the coins are affecting the combat/support not the jutsu.

The reason the ruling is linked above is because it was ruled that growth coins will not give their +1/+1 for the turn, so this, in result, would mean that -1/-1 coins would not give their -1/-1.
