Can Shima negate a jutsu with her effect?

Alright, one game me and a friend had was between my Tailed Beast deck and his Sage Mode deck. We had an exchange of jutsu...

1. I use j-831
2. He plays j-437
3. Summoning Jutsu resolves and he puts n-1064 into the battling team.
4. Shima's effect goes off to "discard a non-ninja" and picks my Rasen Shuriken to be discarded, which everyone around us insisted it basically negated that jutsu.

I just want to know is that even considered negated? I don't consider it that way because some cards say "negate target jutsu" while Shima doesn't negate. Kinda feels like I got played with a possibly pro move lol.

The only time Jutsus are considered to be "in play" are when they are attached to an in play card. You cannot use Shima's effect to discard a Jutsu on the chain.
