i suck at this game...
...because i have no idea when a replacement effect does or does not work with other effects. it doesn't work with somethings and it does with others and i have no idea why, especially when the wording is practically exact. i need to know because i wanna make sure no one misplays me. can someone give me a list of cards that will still work with replacement effects? or vice vursa? which ever is shorter. and an explination would be nice. i'll play with what ever the rulings are and not complain or spiritroll the boards about it. i just want to know.
i personally don't think ANY replacement effects should work. if its replaced, its no longer doing what the card said, no matter if you actually tried or not. i feel i'm the only one in that boat, though. discuss P.S. if this thread already exists, i apologise and please direct me to that thread. |

i know about the cost thing. so you're telling me its only a matter of cost and not cost? it seemed way more complicated than that.

Example Betrayal: Target: 1 of your Ninjas Effect: Discard the target. In that case, draw X cards. X = the target's Entrance cost. for betrayal the ninja must reach the discard pile to draw x because of in that case. Example Shizune: Heal target Ninja. That Ninja cannot be sent out to Battle during this turn. the 2nd part of the effect isnt dependent on the ninja being healed. |

The problem I think you're running into is when a card has a condition inside it's own effect. I'll use the Set 26 Itachi as an example. [Attacker | Mission] 0: Discard a Ninja. In that case, draw 2 cards. Itachi's Cost is to pay 0 Chakra, and then his effect goes on the chain. His effect is twofold. First, you Discard a Ninja. The second part relies completely on whether you actually completed the previous action or not. So, In That Case (If that Ninja was discarded), you draw 2 cards. If the Ninja was not discarded, you don't draw the 2 cards. |

Itachi is an activated effect. His timing is your Mission Phase, his cost is 0. His effect twofold. The first part is to Discard a Ninja. The second relies on you having completed the first part of the effect, in which case you draw 2 cards. |
