The game itself is amazing, easily my second favorite DMC under DMC3. Thats my opinion anyways.
Funny, me and the people I talk to hated the game for the million other reasons:

A) The combat, which is a straight port of Heavenly Sword, updated slightly to incorporate a couple of Dante's old moves.

B) The FPS in combat, lowered from 60 to 30

C) The difficulty level, where the Dante Must Die mode in the new one is the approximate difficulty of Normal in the first and third ones.

D) The butchering of character arcs and progressions by making Dante's mom half-angel, and having their dad run from the big bad guy.

E) The bosses, which lazily telegraph 1 or 2 attacks, then sit there and let you wail on them for a while.

F) Dante acting like a complete jerk the majority of the game, confusing swearing for wit, and openly mocking fans of the previous games.

G) The implementation of TWO dodges buttons, at the cost of lock-on button, neutering half the move sets.

H) The forced use of angelic and demonic weapons in certain sections, removing the flow of picking what weapons you like for what situation.

I) The removal of style decay, allowing anyone with one hand and a working brain to get SSS on every fight, removing the need to change your moves up and just mash the attack button.

So yeah, the hair was easily the least of everyone's problems.
