Card Designs for Kage Summit & Danzo/Sasuke

A year or two ago naruto4ever and I were working on a collaborative set focused on the Kage Summit and the Danzo/Sasuke battle. Thought it'd be appropriate to show you guys some of them. The cards have really unique and cool, in our opinion, designs. They are also flavorful to the story line. Remember these were from a couple formats ago so the power level of effects and key terms are different from now.

All the art on the Ninja cards were lined and colored by naruto4ever. He has such an amazing talent for this.

Note the names of some of these cards were assumed by ourselves. These were created when no official translation was available. Also, we never finished the set. We had the designs written out however, for unforseen reasons, we were unable to continue.

Kage
All the Kage and their bodyguards were designed to hit curve. The Bodyguard's effects usually were to boost or help the Kage effect.

Leaf Village
Danzo (Revealed)
His effect represents Izanagi. Removing 2 -1/-1 coins represent him losing a Sharingan Eye. He has a plethora of eyes so he can use as the effect as long as you have eyes/coins. Since Izanagi is virtually unstopable, we gave him the unrespondabe effect.
Fu Yamanaka
I don't think we remembered that "Fu/Foo" was his code name so we gave him Yamanaka. Basically it supports the -1/-1 theme and Danzo. A Torune was designed as well to support the theme.
Izanagi
In theory, anyone who knows how to can use Izanagi, this explains the Reqs. Izanagi is the ultimate negation for it actually rewinds time. Thus, we had it negate everything beneath it on the chain and plus it couldn't be responded to. The 2 -1/-1 coins were representative of the loss of a Sharingan Eye. When used with Danzo, it causes for more synergy.

To represent his speed.

We called him Enraged because when I designed A like this before this set I called him that and it stuck. His effect represents his vast amount of Chakra. Since he is so fast, he can have a Jutsu he played earlier on the chain, be used again later on the chain.

Storm Style: Laser Circus
Unique effect that represented the speed of the attack.

Mist Village
Mei Terumi
Since Mei had 3 symbols that were obvious, we decided the whole Water theme to be based on her. Her effect represents her Lava Jutsu that blocked Sasuke from escaping.
Chojuro
This represents his sword that can change shape. With it he can make it so a Water Ninja blocks Mei.
Ao
A unique utilization of Tracking (due to his Byakugan). He makes it so the tracked Ninja is the same Symbols as himself and in result boosting Chojuro and Mei.
Lava Style: Lava Shower Jutsu
There are other Lava Ninjas so we thought giving it a Toad Illusion-esque effect would be cool.

Sand Village
Gaara of the Desert
We were really impressioned by Gaara's comment of a "new school of thought". It lead us to a "new" version of an old effect. A better Damage replacement effect.
Temari
More "new" versions lead us to a stronger Temari [WS] effect.
Kankuro
I don't remember if there was a similar effect at the moment but this version allows him to attach Chakra strings to your Ninjas and return it to your Village.
Scorpion

Stone Village
Onoki
A unique "Morphing Jar" effect that mixes Hand control and Draw.
Kurotsuchi
This effect might be a tad too strong... She was designed before we saw her Lava Jutsu.
Akatsuchi (Typo, should be "When 1 or more cards...")
Dust Style: Atomic Dismantling Jutsu
We wanted to reinvent 8 Trigrams.

Samurai
The whole concept of Samurai was that they couldn't use Ninja Arts, instead we gave them Surge. We also had it so that as they hit curve, they could block more teams. Making them void was a good idea, we made them wind instead. :P

Chakra Blades
A unique idea we hatched up, probably one of my favorite designs in the set. Since Samurai can't use Jutsu we decided their Chakra Blades could be utilized differently, but we went a step further. Yeah you can pump your Ninjas with it... Or you can equip it to an opponent's Ninja so while they oppose a Samurai they become a 0/0. And to work with the Weapon theme, it is considered to have Req. Weapon.

Looks like Bandai and our duo had a similar idea, stats were similar too. Sacrifcing a Taka Sasuke made it so only new Turn 4/5 or higher Sasuke could go into it. Sasuke used Genjutsu to overcome many opponents, so his effect casts a new effect over their own Ninjas. This is broken, I'll admit.

We had another Susano'o in the set. I forget what it did tho. :P

Represents his indecisive mentality.
Jugo (State 2)
Multi Chakra Cannon
Remember Arm Stretch from Dragon Ball? The ability to generate multiple cannons inspired us for this effect.
Change in Character
Scared? We thought since Sasuke kinda got rid of his oldself and completely changed, the effect should represent that.

Akatsuki
Zetsu (Black)
He's a scout. That's what his effect does. However, having him in play makes it so you can't play a Zetsu that is not split.
Zetsu (White)
He can make clones so that's why he's Non-unique. He can copy others. Same 2nd effect as Black.
Zetsu
His spores stop them from using Jutsu.

Eye of the Moon Plan
Gold Sarcophagus/Different Dimensiona Capsule. Represents a long term goal by Tobi.
