I don't think it's him taking a break bleach and one piece haven't dropped in 3 weeks either, possiable jump is taking that break instead

Most magazines are on break. Ones with bi weekly/monthly updates like Liar Game and Mysterious Girlfriend X took off till January 24th (and some until Feburary)

I can't remember the reasoning why. Far as I know New Year (Jan. 1st) and Coming of age (Second Monday) are the only national holidays in japan.

Jump is taking a two week break. Shonen Jump Alpha, the US release, is using the two weeks to catch up with Japan. We're going to have simultaneous releases with Japan in three weeks. Pretty awesome!
