Exclusive “Tier” Promotional Cards

Hello everyone!

Enjoying all the new Avenger’s Wrath cards? I know I’m wringing my hands day by day thinking “Will they like it?”, so I’m a nervous wreck at this point! I hope you enjoy the previews right up until the set release, and for those going to Gencon 2012 this year I wish you all the luck at capturing the glory of defeating all other competitors and standing at the top!

That’s not what this article is about, however. This is about 5 new exclusive promotional cards that we will releasing over the next several months. These will be easier to obtain as the months go by, but if you want them first, you’ll have to attend one of our many Shonen Jump Championship tournaments, one of which is held every month. These promos are referred to as “Tier” Promos.

Why “Tier” Promos?

As a common sense rule to follow, the players who do better in our game and invest more, should be rewarded more due to their dedication. It goes without saying that we already have prizing for that, but let’s take that a step farther. What if you could get promos up to 4 months before the masses? This would be rewarding time instead of quantity, which has shown to be effective for other games as well. Obviously these promos can’t be ridiculously powerful, as this would create a gulf between players, but having promos early is always a good thing as well. Not only can you get more trade value for them, you can also simply play with them before anyone else.

Why are they called Tier Promos? The easiest way to picture that is to imagine your staring at a set of stairs from the side, like so:

Now imagine that the black area of each step represents the amount of people that potentially have access to the card, meaning that for every step that the card goes up, the more people that there are to potentially receive it. We broke down each step to our primary levels of play to allow for a wider release the longer the card is out. Each step takes 2 months to complete before moving on to the next.

Now here’s the exact same picture with the steps labeled:

Remember that each step takes 2 months for a card to complete, and once a card moves to the next step, the next promo will take its place. For example, if Promo 1 moves from SJC Top 8 to SJC Participation, then Promo 2 will take the SJC Top 8 spot. This means that once the cards are in full swing, each level, or tier, of play will have its own exclusive promotional card!

What are the cards?

We bent the rules slightly to allow for everyone participating in this years Gencon tournament to receive the first promo, the powerful Sage Mode Naruto. In case you havn’t seen him, here he is again:

Although this Naruto is given as SJC Participation, it will be for SJC Top 8 only for the month of September, before falling back into SJC Participation for October and November to make room for the next promo.

In total, each of the 5 main elements will receive 1 promotional card. The second promo features art everyone has seen before, but will only be given as a sneak peek to our fantastic volunteers at Gencon this year, so you’ll have to harass them to catch a glimpse of what’s coming in a few months, or continue watching this space when we reveal it to you!
