To celebrate the refreshed Mighty Morphin Power Rangers toy line, aligned with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series that premiered January 2, 2010 on ABC Kids, Bandai America sponsored “The Power Rangers Power Up Video Challenge.” Between October 1 and December 15, 2009, contestants were encouraged to view a Power Rangers cliffhanger video online or at one of more than 2,000 movie theatres in the United States and then submit their own unique ending in a mini-movie or storyboard to http://www.bandai.com/powerrangers/videochallenge.
The Morphin-good finalists were narrowed down by an elite panel of expert judges with a breadth of experience in the toy and entertainment industries including:
- Sean Phillips, Executive Producer of Yahoo! Movies
- Mike Crawford, Toy Collector and Owner of MWC Toys
- John Andrews, Executive Producer and Creative Director at ka-chew!
- Paulie Schrier, former Mighty Morphin Power Rangers actor and director
The judges chose their top five entries in each of the mini-movie and storyboard categories. Those top five choices were then voted on by the public to select the winners.
